A Personal Perspective | About
the Ministers
The
Open International Interfaith Ministry is a division of the Prince
Edward Island Interfaith Ministry, and was created in 2002 to
enable the PEI Interfaith Ministry to work without the limitations
of geography. The Prince Edward Island Interfaith Ministry is
a member unit of the international Council of Community Churches
which is affiliated with teh World Council of Churches and the
United Nations.
Celebrating all religious traditions
Our
Ministry is inclusive, celebrating all religious traditions and
diverse approaches to spirituality and understanding God. When
we look at the beautiful, diverse world that God has created for
us to live in, it is clear to us that God is a God of diversity.
There is not just one type of tree, or one type of bird, or one
type of flower, or one type of person. The world is populated
with a multitude of forms which are trees, and birds, and flowers,
and people in all shapes, sizes, and colour. This diversity makes
the world more beautiful.
If
we believe that God is infinite, then one place to begin to understand
God is to embrace the knowledge that in this diverse and beautiful
world created by God, it is only natural that God should manifest
the message of unconditional love in many ways to many peoples.
There is one God, but it is a God of many faces. We in the interfaith
ministry celebrate these many faces of God represented by different
religious traditions and rejoice that we have been given such
a beautiful and diverse world. We express this truth with the
phrase, "The paths are many, the truth is one. Love thy neighbour."

through the Intuitive Times Institute (NTI). The Ministry maintains
a registration list of professional Spiritual Counselors and confirms
CEU's (continuing education units) allowing for the renewal for
a 3 year period for each professional in: a) Certificate of Applied
Spiritual Counselling, b) Registered Professional Spiritual Counsellor,
c) Ordained Interfaith Minister.
We
are Intefaith in Perspective
Our
Ministry is interfaith in perspective and encourages participation
by persons from all faiths and traditions. At any meeting or service,
you may find Christian Priests, Ministers, Jewish Rabbis, Hindu
Swamis, Sikhs, Buddhist Lamas, Jain Monks, Spiritualist Ministers,
Native Medicine Men and others sharing the platform. Most people
attending our services and activities bring to them their connection
to their own faith and traditions. If one phrase reflects the
nature of the Ministry it is: The Paths are Many, the Truth is
One: Love the Neighbour.
We
are a community, not a religion. The ministry is neither a sect
nor a cult, nor part of a particular world religion. We have created
no dogmas or creeds and give place to no single figure or sole
religious authority in matters of faith. We arose out of a need
to promote an atmosphere of informed and free thought and enquiry
where individuals could explore their understanding of Spirity
and Spirituality.
Another
valuable service the Interfaith Ministry performs is the validations
of people's experiences with Spirit and the psychic world. As
a community, we are strong, not only because of the things which
we believe in common, but also because of the differences in our
individual understanding.
There
are a number of common denominators which unite us in the Interfaith
Ministry. One is our desire to eliminate intolerance and prejudice
in spiritual practice. Another is our readiness to testify to
the reality of the Spiritual world and of the subtle faculties
of psychic and Spiritual vision through which it may be perceived.
Our activities help people find their own personal understanding
and proofs as to the reality and nature of Spirit and the Spirit
world.
Our
Unifying Principles
As
a community, members of the Interfaith Ministry embrace a number
of principles. We believe these principles are universal in nature.
The
Open International Interfaith Ministry is inclusive in nature
and welcomes persons of all traditions. We understand God to be
infinite and believe that it is only natural that an infinite
God should manifest his message of unconditional love in many
ways to many peoples. There is one God but it is a God of many
faces. We celebrate the many faces of God represented by different
religious traditions and express this truth with the phrase, "he
paths are many, the truth is one. Love thy neighbour."
