About Our Curriculum

NTI’s curriculum has modules of specific courses at different levels of credentialing. We believe that an Interfaith Minister should have a foundation in traditional counselling techniques and an understanding of the breadth of holistic wellness as well as in-depth studies in spirituality and matters of spirit, from both the scientific and the inclusive religious perspective. The course modules taught throughout the various levels at different degrees of intensity cover core subject areas. These 8 core subject areas are (their designated number span in also indicated):

MIN Ministering (900-999)
REL Comparative Religious Studies (500-599)
SPR Spirituality (200-299)
COUN Counselling (100-199)
NPSY Intuition / Psychic Studies (400-499)
OSIDE Life After & Before Life Studies (600-699)
SPHEAL Energy Work/Spiritual Healing (800-899)
WELL Holistic Wellness (300-399)

Courses required for Level I: CASC will be prefaced by A
Courses required for Level II & III: Lay Minister and LM will be prefaced by B
Courses required for Level IV: OM will be prefaced by C

Example: Basic Helping Skills is COUN A-100 It is required for the Level I (A) and is a credit in Counselling (COUN).

Individual subjects have been organized in a progressive manner. For example, a 100 course would normally be a prerequisite for a 110 or higher course. The courses whose last two digits are higher tend to depend on prior knowledge gained through lower numbered courses.

In addition each course is weighted by the credit units it will be given. A credit unit is equivalent to a credit hour at university - 10 hours of class time. Therefore a 3 credit unit course is equivalent to a 30 hour course at university, spanning one semester. A 6 credit unit course is equivalent to a 60 hour course at university, spanning the full year or 2 semesters. Therefore COUN A-100 becomes COUN A-100-6. This course will be worth 6 credit units, or the equivalent of 60 hours class time, or the equivalent of one full year course at university, of those required to complete the Level I: CASC programme. A full year at university is normally 60 credit hours of courses.

Modules are grouped by topic - identified next to the module number. Dividing each of the three curriculums into courses and modules allows you to progress through one module at a time, with meaningful guideposts along the way. It also gives you flexibility with your own goal settings. You may start out with the first year Lay Ministry Level I: CASC programme one module at a time. After completing it, you may decide you would like to progress to the second and third year Lay and Licensed Ministry Level II & III programme. You can decide to go the whole distance right from the start or you can ease into it one step at a time.

OIIM’s Seminary ~ NTI’s Course/Module

  • Practicums through the OIIM (Open International Interfaith Ministry) seminary, NTI (the iNtuitive Times Institute), are with an OIIM Seminary / NTI instructor only.
  • Internships are done in a recognized agency, such as hospitals, OIIM chapters, wellness centres and senior citizen homes, etc. Internships have both an OIIM Seminary NTI supervisor and an on-site supervisor. Note: If the on-site supervisor requires an honorarium fee, that honorarium fee is the responsibility of the student. NTI recommends the fee of $100.00 for a 3 credit hour internship and $200 for a 6 credit hour internship.
  • Residencies are 8 days ~ Sat. 10am - the following Sat. 5pm; Extended OM’s (Ordained Minister) residencies are 10 days ~ Thur. 2pm - the following 2nd Sat. 5pm; Most often residencies will be held in July or August. Residencies include written and experiential exams and graduation ceremonies.
  • Each year designated in this outline is offered as a guidepost and would be equivalent in time commitment to a year’s programme of study at a university or other seminary.
  • Students pursuing the OM (Ordained Minister) track are offered two options. The regular three year OM programme (Level II plus Level III) would be equivalent to 3 years of study at a university or other seminary. The Compacted 2 year OM programme would accomplish the equivalent of three years at university in two years. Students proceed at their own speed, time-lines are merely offered as guidelines.
  • The $100 application fee includes an initial assessment for exemption course by course. The successful applicants will be sent, along with their contract, an outline of the exact courses that OIIM Seminary, NTI will require them to take. If the student disagrees with NTI’s admission decision, each course can be appealed for advanced standing, with additional information provided, at a cost of $10.00 per course.
  • Because there is no charge for initial assessment of prior studies, the application fee is non-refundable. For accepted students half of the application fee is considered part of the unique NTI mentoring programme and therefore $50 is applied to the student’s first module fees.
  • OM (Ordained Minister) students must, when they are ready, publically dedicate themselves at both their local chapter (if one exists) and at one of the week retreats.
  • This type of shading in the outline identifies the compacted OM (Ordained Minister) (C-OM) programme for the accelerated completion of the OM Programme.
  • This type of shading in the outline identifies requirements prior to year 4 for the Regular OM (Ordained Minister) (R-OM) Programme.
  • This type of shading in the outline identifies the additional requirements for the elective “Intuitive” designation.
